Getting the new Linkbox Local HD and wondering what cable I will need to run to my other HD tv on the patio. New box will be in living room hook up to my HD tv there. Run will be around 40 feet.

well HDMI is out, so is component video and video, (40 feet is a stretch for video) if your receiver has an RF output (TV channels 3 or 4) then that will work.
Even though they sell 40 foot HDMI cables it will degrade the signals.
The make HDMI to CAT5 adapters that will run 300 feet or more but they cost.

might want to try something like one of those wireless extenders that re-transmits the signal on a different frequency but not sure if they actually work with HD signal

I used to use leapfrog extenders by terk but they were analog.

They only work with the video and R/L audio (Red, White, Yellow RCA jacks, an SD signal) they don't make one for HD yet. (At least one that is affordable to many)
This is why on some installs at bars and clubs I use an HDMI splitter (from the STB) and the HDMI to CAT5 stuff, you can go a long way with that stuff.

Looking like I need one of these a 30ft Ultra Slim Series High Performance HDMI® Cable w/ RedMere® Technology. Cost 40 dollars. I can get by with 30 feet.

They do have these hummers, but I have never tried one, but you will still need an HDMI splitter to use both TV's.

Good luck as some have had big signal quality problems with HDMI cables longer then 20 feet, you would not be-leave how many calls I get about "My picture is terrible", then find out is the extra long cable at fault.
