Thanks very much to Goofathers and poroto40 for working on this.
I got things to work on my X-FTA box with my ViewSat 9000HD in 2 ways.
Method A - Gargoyle firmware
Using the files from xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom.zip. Installed per the instructions.
Inserted the following in /etc/init.d
Code:
/usr/sbin/serial_console off
before this line:
$XX_CLIENT > /dev/null 2>&1 &
Modify the server and client files accordingly. Reboot and everything worked.
Method B - Openwrt firmware
I flashed the X-FTA router with
http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfir...4-squashfs.trx
Using the files from xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom.zip. Installed per the instructions.
As pangga indicated you have to comment these lines in /etc/inittab to disable console you do thus by putting a # in front of the comment
Code:
#tts/0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
#ttyS0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
#tty1::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
Modify the server and client files accordingly. Reboot and everything worked.
Good luck running on my 9000 and ultra the method a works better

I'm using the gargoyle modded firmware for xx-script
use the file X-fta-xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber.zip and xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom.zip
1. unzip X-fta-xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber.zip ,login to your xfta, goto flash the firmware with the unzipped files
2. after about 5-10 minutes it will be done flashing the goto 192.168.0.2
user is: root password is: poroto40
3.change the internet settings to yours and then save it and wait a few minutes.
4. extract the files from xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom.zip
5. use winscp , login to the router through it
6. goto root and drag the files you just unzipped there edit the caid.ini, servers.ini, and xx-client.ini accordingly note to make that line active you have to remove the # before it as # means to ignore
6. goto /etc/init.d and insert the code
/usr/sbin/serial_console off
before this line:
$XX_CLIENT > /dev/null 2>&1 &
i couldn't find that line in mine so iended up copying both of them
7. reboot router and you should be good to go
hope this helps and good luck

Thank you for the reply's!!!!

that's a good question. if you locate the xx-client.ini file that pansatdishman uploaded there isn't a protocol for the nfusion.
# Receiver protocol
# 1 - Viewsat/X-Factor
# 2 - CNX
# 3 - SSSP Viewsat/SSSP Pansat/Coolsat
# 4 - Captiveworks
receiver_protocol=1
Now then, in goofather's protocol xx-client_v2.5.28.122-x86-atheros-broadcom inside the xx-client.ini file is this:
# Receiver protocol
# 1 - Viewsat/X-Factor
# 2 - CNX
# 3 - SSSP Viewsat/SSSP Pansat/Coolsat
# 4 - Captiveworks
# 5 - Nfusion
# Note: Nfusion's gateway must be set to the IP of the device running
# XX-Client
receiver_protocol=5
K I see where u r going with this N looks Great but My thing is I am using NFusion HD so will this still be the same??
Thank you for the reply's!!!!

Different xx-client versions. The version they used is 2.4. I only released 2.5 a mere 3 or so days ago......which has the new nfusion protocol.
P.S. you can find 2.5 in the nfusion section.

I have the xfta router with gargoyle mex firmware running xx-client 2.5. By just changing the protocol on the ini file can switch between Nfusion Phoenix and Viewsat Max.
Doing some testing connected at the same time the Nfusion via ethernet with xx-client and the Viewsat Max via serial with the xfta rqsssp client, and they work.
Maybe with different file names you can run two instances of the xx-client, one via serial and another via ethernet.

Or just put them in different directories. One in xx-client_nf and another in xx-client_vs for example....

I let it sit like that foe 10 minuts or so whit no luck.I am trying again to see what happens but I can load the file you have with the rq client progran on it easy so if you will please share all the info you can as I will if I get this to work this way. are you wired to the router or wireless?
Sam Crow
06-11-2013, 06:31 PM
Hard wired,I click the update Button for the flash and it just spins, It never sais completed after 30 mins or so I try to stop it n log into it by the 192.168.0.2 and nothing just timed out then I try 192.168.1.1 and the same thing. I try to reset it by the reset switch n nothing. I have to unbrick it and I cant even load it there. Only the Reg gargoyle bin or the one with the rq client also I can load the openwrt bin but Not the one I am having problems with,
mechanicman

sometimes you just need to reset with back button and start over.. hold back button in for like 40 seconds and release and come back in 5 minutes..if it does not reset you can hold 40 seconds....then unplug power.. keep holding in button and after 40 seconds plug in power keep holding and finally release after 40 seconds.....or you can also try to get in by tftp program which worked a few times and saved my butt..

hello, i noticed you said you cant load xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber.zip , you need to unzip that and the file you should be flashing is X-fta-xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber.trx after its done flashing try removing the internet plug from your computer and plug it back in, then once it connects try typing in 192.168.0.2 , if you cant get anything to load you might have to goto control pannel network adapters then right click your network adapter and right click properties and then type in a ip of something like 192.168.0.5 and subnet of 255.255.255.0 then a gateway of 192.168.0.2 click apply wait a few minutes then replug the internet wire back in
good luck

Thanks very much to Goofathers and poroto40 for working on this.
I got things to work on my X-FTA box with my ViewSat 9000HD in 2 ways.
Method A - Gargoyle firmware
Using the files from xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom.zip. Installed per the instructions.
Inserted the following in /etc/init.d
Code:
/usr/sbin/serial_console off
before this line:
$XX_CLIENT > /dev/null 2>&1 &
Modify the server and client files accordingly. Reboot and everything worked.
Method B - Openwrt firmware
I flashed the X-FTA router with
http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfir...4-squashfs.trx
Using the files from xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom.zip. Installed per the instructions.
As pangga indicated you have to comment these lines in /etc/inittab to disable console you do thus by putting a # in front of the comment
Code:
#tts/0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
#ttyS0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
#tty1::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
Modify the server and client files accordingly. Reboot and everything worked.
Good luck running on my 9000 and ultra the method a works better
Files : http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?134964
I'm trying Method A but get the following message when running install.sh.

chmod: /www/cgi-bin/xx-client-config: Not a directory
Done! - Now edit servers.ini and xx-client.ini in /root.
I can ping doesntexist.org but not satserv.doesntexist.org.
Is there another server that I can point the install.sh script to??
Also I don't have a /etc/init.d file. Maybe that's because the install script didn't fully work.
Any ideas on how to get around this would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like you didn't install the firmware with xx-client in it. You are trying those commands on a XFTA still running the original gargoyle firmware.
fastback321
07-08-2013, 11:53 PM
I first installed Gargoyle version xx-client-poroto40 which worked properly. When I run the install script in xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom.zip is when I get those errors.
goofather
07-09-2013, 04:44 AM
Nevermind...if you saw my previous response...
I think I know what is happening. To get a list of packages you have to run opkg update. I am betting the packages for that firmware you are using no longer exist. But if the libraries are already installed, you can ignore that error.
Also....
chmod: /www/cgi-bin/xx-client-config: Not a directory
Done! - Now edit servers.ini and xx-client.ini in /root.
My Install script is meant for OpenWRT, not gargoyle. In OpenWRT there is a web interface to configure xx-client but this only works on OpenWRT. On OpenWRT the web interface is installed to /www/cgi-bin/xx-client-config, which does not exist in Gargoyle.
Hence the filename, xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom.zip.........
You are running an install script on a router firmware that it wasn't made for. There are bound to be problems.

Try this below as mentioned by Goofather in another forum, I was getting error messages too and after doing this no errors at all, everything worked fine.
.........
For working around with this problem check these WinSCP settings.
a) Open the WinSCP login interface
b) Make sure that Advanced Options checkbox is checked (bottom left at login screen)
c) In the left box click on Session
d) Then in the right side select File Protocol: SCP
e) In the left box click on SCP/Shell option (under Enviroment topic)
* If you cannot see the SCP/Shell option return to step b. This option only shows up if Advanced Options is checked.
f) Then in the right side unselect the option "Try to Get Full Timestamp" under Directory Listing box.
* if the checkbox is inaccessible return to step d, you only can change this for SCP protocol.
g) also unselect the option "Lookup User Groups" under Other Options box
h) save your new settings
............Hope this helps.

I Can go to 192.168.0.1 and get the router page or go to the 192.168.0.2 and get the new gargoyle splash
once in the gargoyle, I set up the static IP, it should be noted that i'm hard wired and i do get internet connectivity hardwired to the xfta connect to another port but not wan port
so i proceed to the next step which reguires me to install wscp software
and I do when I try connecting with user name and password i get nothing

Yes, its works a lot better. Plus when you get a channel that doesn't work, you can go back to previous channel without any problems as the original firmware just seemed to stop talking to the server and the only way to get picture back was to reboot the router. Trust me you'll like it.

I had the same exact issue:
Here's what you do.
Reflash techno file again to start fresh.
Then just edit caid, server and xx client ini.
Don't drag any files while in winscp. The preloaded files work great.
Next add the two lines of code etc/init.d/xxclient sh. At the bottom you need to look carefully as some of the code is incomplete, $XX_CLIENT, just copy and paste $XX_CLIENT > /dev/null 2>&1 & over it. Then simply add code /usr/sbin/serial_console off above it.
Finally web browse to 192.168.0.2 and setup your connection to match yours. Reboot router. Done
Hope this helps.

Ok,
in winscp, your going to be in the root folder, now navigate to the etc folder by double clicking on the root drop down tab in winscp above all the caid, server, xxclient ini.
go into or navigate folders, etc, init.d, then scroll down to xxclient sh. open the xxclient sh and edit/insert the two lines of code. Remember to look carefully at the bottom.

After several frustrating days, finally have method B working. Had method A working too, but it suffered from freezing every few seconds. Method B definitely works better. Will write a long Post on do's and don'ts, but before that, have a couple of questions.
Noticed in one of the last posts it says to add the lines:
/usr/sbin/serial_console off
$XX_CLIENT > /dev/null 2>&1
to the "xx-client.sh" file. Did do it, but there is no mention of this in the original method B instructions. Placed the lines over an existing line (replaced the line) that said something like "$XX_CLIENT &" or something like that. Is that correct?
Also, have no idea what this means in the instructions:
"As pangga indicated you have to comment these lines in /etc/inittab to disable console you do thus by putting a # in front of the comment
Code:
#tts/0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
#ttyS0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
#tty1::askfirst:/bin/ash --login"
How is this done? Is it necessary? Seems to be working anyway without doing it.
Was taking 30 seconds to 1 minute to change from north to south P$ and sometimes not coming in at all, so changed the "client.ini" settings to Server_timeout=8, and server_retries=0. Seems to be working better. Does ignore_Caid=1 need to be changed for more the one P$? If so, what does a different number do?
Are these good settings for VS9000 with 2 (and later 3 P$)? Are there any other recommended settings?

Guys,
I just loaded X-fta-xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber to my xfta router - Wow what a difference. Just make sure you understand you DO NOT use xx-client_v2.4.180.926-openwrt-broadcom files with this method - you only need to modify the .ini files which come pre-loaded with the Techno-Cyber firmware. Thanks to the guys that built this solution!
sal0826,
I'm a hardware builder and some of the lingo to change my Gargoyle firmware in my xfta-Router is way out in left field. : -(
Is there any programing info that helps me understand the files needed to edit and load?
My receiver is a VS9000HD that I'd like to get beyond the freezing ..
Later:
Would like to learn how to get my WRT54G vrs 2.0 loaded with goofathers pgm to work with my nFusion HD ..
Appreciate any directions,
Thanks ctx
Hi all
I am in the same boat as ctx
do I config the files in unzipped xx-client_v2, before I log in to gargoyle?
if yes, do I upgrade
xx-client-Atheros
xx-client-Broadcom
xx-client-x86
all of them, one at a time? or just one for vs ulta

CTX,
Just download the XFTA firmware available on this site (X-fta-xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber). This modified firmware will run the rq_sssp service you need to communicate with your Viewsat via the serial cable. Now log into that XFTA router via a web session and upgrade the firmware with the binaries you just downloaded to your computer (X-fta-xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber). Once that's done you just need to modify the .ini files to support your favorite IKS server. To modify the .ini files, this time you will log into the XFTA router via WinSCP (it's available for free on the net).
sal0826,
I'm a hardware builder and some of the lingo to change my Gargoyle firmware in my xfta-Router is way out in left field. : -(
Is there any programing info that helps me understand the files needed to edit and load?
My receiver is a VS9000HD that I'd like to get beyond the freezing ..
Later:
Would like to learn how to get my WRT54G vrs 2.0 loaded with goofathers pgm to work with my nFusion HD ..
Appreciate any directions,
Thanks ctx

ICU2,
Are you using an XFTA router? - if so you will upgrade it with the file X-fta-xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber.trx ONLY
Those other files are for running rq_sssp off a laptop
Hi all
I am in the same boat as ctx
do I config the files in unzipped xx-client_v2, before I log in to gargoyle?
if yes, do I upgrade
xx-client-Atheros
xx-client-Broadcom
xx-client-x86
all of them, one at a time? or just one for vs ulta
still trying
I upgrade it with the file X-fta-xx-client-920-Techno-Cyber.trx ,do I have to set up anything else before I close gargoyle?
and when I try to login back in I get "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.0.2."
when I log in with winscp what file do I put in the "private key file"

You need to setup a temporary static connection on your laptop/desktop so you can connect to the XFTA Router. The Router will be on 192.168.0.2 so you need to hard code 192.168.0.1 into your laptop interface to make the connection.
When using winscp you will NOT add any files, you will just be using it to modify the .ini files which should already be there.

Thats right but don`t forget you also have to log in to gargoyle and join your main router so you can have internet connection
otherwise nothing will work

First things first. Are you seeing a link light on your interface so you know you actually have a layer 1 connection to that router?
Secondly, you may still have an old IP address stuck in that XFTA router. That hardware is really crap and you sometimes need to forcibly reset it a couple of times to get it to default settings. Press that reset button and hold it while you shut it down. Then when you power it up again you should hold the reset for a few seconds and release while it's booting up.
Thanks saL826
one other thing, when I change my ip I have no internet is that ok?
I tried
I give up! (for now)
enjoy, those who get it
Thanks all for your input!

No Don't give up.
You obviously just have a connectivity issue between your laptop and XFTA router. I hate to state the obvious, but do you have a cat5 cable connected from your laptop directly to the XFTA and one of it's LAN ports (NOT the one WAN port)?
I have a cat5 form laptop to XFTA not WAN, lan port 2
still no go sal826
I tried to reset to xfta-08.09.2 trx file on my windows 7, could not login to gargoyle after resetting xfta
but did work on other laptop xp

ICU2,
If you now have the new image installed onto that XFTA router you will not see any sat info when logged in via a web session. You will only log into the web session to setup the router IP info to match your wireless network. To change the sat info you need to now log into the router via winSCP. You will find some .ini files which you will modify with your private server info. You're almost there.
Sorry I can't constantly update - I'm trying to post during a very small window of time after work.
Hi all
I am happy! I got it working with post #1, Method A
THANK YOU !!

Code:
#tts/0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
#ttyS0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
#tty1::askfirst:/bin/ash --login"
I got method A working after a few tries, working great! thanks to everyone that contributed to this fix,but I can't get method B to work on my other xfta after a few frustrating days. Magnus, I am waiting for your step by step instruction patiently.I can't seem to get past setting up the reflashed router with openwrt firmware to be able to communicate with winscp and browser

Login request rejected because you may have invalid data entered on "card_server", or you don't have active account with your provider.

I spent two days and tried all the possibilities to flash my XFTA router with XX-client-920-techno-cyber.trx but could not succeed. The TFTP utility shows "Erasing flash" message and I see the blue bar progressing but it stops at 85-90 person and gives message "Failed to erase flash"; however when I use the original file "xfta-o8.09.2-g1.2.3-wf0.23mex-hgdvb.trx" it successfully loads up the image.
I have read all the post in this thread multiple times and tried everything like changing my IP address to static but nothing worked.
I want somebody to put more light on it. Why does an original image loads up successfully while the otherone gets failed at 90%?
Your help is greately appreciated as i am also tired of resetting my XFTA router every by and then when a non working channel is selected by mistake.

Thanks a lot pororo40. I have my router working and I can watch TV now but just for curiosity I still have one question. According to the instructions we need to look for /etc/init.d. Following are the exact text I am going to copy:
"Go to /etc/init.d and look for the line $XX_Client or $XX_CLIENT > /dev/null 2>&1 &
Insert the code /usr/sbin/serial_console off before $XX_Client line. Make sure $XX_cleint complete syntax should be there. Otherwise paste two lines like:
$XX_CLIENT > /dev/null 2>&1 &
/usr/sbin/serial_console off"
However, when I logged into my router with the help of WinsCP, I only found four following files:
Caid.ini
servers.ini
XX-client (no extension)
XX-client.ini
I left Caid.ini unchanged and modified servers.ini only. Just want to know where can the above two lines be added as I was unable to find /etc/init.d?

Magnus you were going to write a post on how to get method B working. Friend of mine just bought a Nfusion HD and X-FTA.
Would you be kind enough to post the steps necessary to get this X-FTA going using the method B (Openwrt Firmware) with Goo 3. Thanks for your help.
