brand new dreamLink v4 is hanging/weird issue

anyone know about stb is hanging[7400] and press standby button for reboot.installed new module with rubber plus laptop cooling fan. the unit is running cool/reset factory file and updated new factory file 106 and 119.any idea [not heat issue] ,thanks advance

friend had a issue kinda like yours,

he factory defaulted a few times,installed newest factory file,factory defaulted a few times,installed newest file,factory defaulted a few times,then set up,no issues at all now,and i also seen others do it the same way

thanks for replied. i did but the audio keep cutting off and booting or sometimes get stuck at one channel

Possibly a short on the coax side - verify all your connectors/cable.

my friend had that issue and sent it back to allstar dealer got new one and been fine,had same exact issue,would lose sound,if you try to fix would lock up needing to reboot to fix it,and would turn on and off random by itself,ive seen a hand ful of people with same issues,if you just got it i would try to replace myself,anyways good luck

im sure you will be ok with new,im sure all brands have a defective one or 2 here and there,buy from reputable dealer and you will be fine... my friend got a replacement and very happy with the stb

There is no V3 or V4, that's simply retailers trying to create a "new and improved" marketing slogan. There is maybe a V2 as they did adjust the 8PSK slot to make installation easier, but that was roughly 2 yrs ago. Aside from that, nothing has changed, so don't buy into the hype

My boss at work bit the hype bullet hard... hes talking bout how so many things changed like the menu and etc etcc... is there a new menu on these new v2? Should i buy an original v1 or is it basically all the same shat?

That's software, not hardware

Software can be uploaded to the DLHD regardless of version #. Just install Factory File 1.06 and Bin file 1.19 and you'll get the latest and greatest. I have updated my software numerous times and I haven't noticed any major changes in the software layout.

After I factory install and do the bin do all my settings get erased like the p$ info and bird info?

Like dishuser said, you'll need to setup and re-scan all your sats. Your P$ info should stay on the receiver after a factory default or bin file update if I recall, but be prepared to re-enter those as well.

How bout the edits I've done to my channels? Renaming etc, can I save those chnges onto a USB if it in fact gets erased the channel changes?
