Samsung sgh-i917r unlock

My daughter recently was given one of these phones (was on rogers). Reading up on the web I see that it can be unlocked using codes . Does anyone know if the codes are available for free or will she have to part with some cash ?

Doesn't work , tried all examples. Phone doesn't react to the commands . Only thing that seems to work is ##634# followed by *2767*3855# . \Does a reset and thats it :noidea:

I was not able to find a free unlock code for the mobile model that you have specified...You can get the unlock code for your Samsung SGH i917r from Prounlocking.com and remove the network lock with Rogers.

Its better to buy a unlock code than using the free code, as the free code will damage your phone eeprom and give you problems but you don't care you can enter #*7337# in the phone and your phone will reboot and your phone will be unlock, use at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage cause to your by this code.

Interesting . What does #*7337# have to do with a free code ? Would you happen to have more info on the subject ?

It does unlock some samsung phone but also reset the imei to 0's.
