how to view pvr'd shows

A friend of mine has a nextfta receiver and has recorded in show. I told them to go to menu, utility, usb and select the show and press ok. They said it's not working. Since I'm not there a they have no idea what they are doing can someone tell me how to select a recording to watch it? I know it sounds silly but this person is driving me nuts. Thx

no menu
press play
then scroll to recording and hilite
press ok

actually on the remote press EPG button(green)
highlight show to be recorded hit the record button on the remote bottom (with the red dot) should be a record notice on the program
oops that is how to record a movie
