SD hdmi vs non hdmi files question

anyone using the SD hdmi files on their non hdmi SD model? a friend has an older SD box with older bin and wants to update box but no files have been released for the non hdmi model for some time.
only recent releases are for the hdmi model. heard some people have used the hdmi software but not sure, dont want to tell the guy to do it and fry his box....thanks

lol....Installing a file which is probably the same only with added information for hdmi will hardly update a receiver. There is an old saying and that is if it ain't broke don't try and fix it. good luck
