View Full Version : Question on factory bin

I hear that new factory bins will be coming out for the V1 & V2 STBs. Not rumor. Posted now in a number of places by Mods.
Anyway, I never ever loaded a factory bin on any V1 or V2 before. They all came w/ latest factory. So I looked @ Upgrade by USB and see selectable 'ALL FLASH'. Now my question... Is this what to select when doing a new factory file? Or will it just be a 'FIRMWARE' update? How load a factory? I looked in files section and FAQs but didn't see any instructions. That doesn't mean a whole lot. Just ask my wife. I can never find anything. (Found the file but not find any instructions for loading it)
I sure hope the coders post some clear instructions for this when the time comes. I sure hope this one has HDMI set up for a default that actually works. I sure hope they have it set up for NTSC and not PAL.

you should never need to load a factory file, in fact you can kill your jynx with it, you only load a firmware update to a working
box, and do that by usb.

So factory files, according to you, are created for what reason?

for a dead box, or for a box that don't have a factory file on it, if they use the loader and load it to a working box and miss one step
that box will be in boot loop.

Yes, yes. Like I said, I never have loaded one. I hope that was clear from my 1st post. I would not disagree that loading the current factory bin on a V2 could definitely kill it. I am talking about bins they are about to release.
That being said, I am told that the coders are about to release new factory bins to resolve issues with the V1 & V2 boxes already out there. That being the case, they will have us load a new factory bin, NOT the present one listed. This will allow them to fix issues we have had since day one.

well I could be wrong but I would think if the factory bin needed to be updated, it would be in the firmware update and auto load.

So, coders are going to release new factory files to correct the issues so that people can overwrite the factory file with third party files to run IKS and steal tv. What was the purpose of the factory file again?
Hmm, I must be out of the loop totally in this game.

Apparently factory files will correct hardware interface issues between the boxes. Plenty of other boxes get new factory files. Dreamlink just came out with new factory to solve boot loop issues. I 'presume' not 3rd party coders releasing the files but actual factory coders doing this work. I presume that such things as PVR don't even work in the factory files even for open channels. That would cause the factory coders to correct those issues.
We are cutting fine lines over quatloos here. I ask simple question for which there appears to be no answer so I will wait and see what happens.

I don't see the factory coders doing this, that would cause legal problems for them, the jynx box is not a sat receiver when you buy
it, it is a PVR, that is the only way they can be sold in the U.S. and be a legal box to own, you must buy a sat tuner and add a 3rd
party software to make it a sat receiver, jmo.

Where does one find the 3rd party sat receiver software?
Are there any technical/programming specs for the box?
Does the 3rd party s/w support nfps?
(the more I know about this box, the sooner I'll buy one!)
If you scrolled down a few forums you would get here;

actually you have it backwards. You should never load 3rd party software to a box and make it illegal
for a dead box, or for a box that don't have a factory file on it, if they use the loader and load it to a working box and miss one step

you have less chance of putting a box in boot loop by loading a factory file than you do a 3rd party file
well I could be wrong but I would think if the factory bin needed to be updated, it would be in the firmware update and auto load. A factory file would be loaded using the all flash option I would guess as that allows bigger files than 3rd party crap and writes to areas of the eeprom that 3rd parties do not touch. 3rd party files can read from that memory area but not write to it.

actually the sat tuner usually ships with it. You can add a dvb tuner (still sat) and it is perfectly legal. Only when you add the turbo 8psk module that it becomes illegal. Even then it is a very gray area as the module does nothing without loading 3rd party software and the 3rd party software does nothing without the module. Interesting isn't it? Still think the coders are a totally separate entity from the manufacturer? There might have been some doubt with SD boxes, but with any HD box requiring a separate module it is quite blatant

you can put all the sat tuners in the jynx that you want to, but without a 3rd party software they want work, in fact you want even
have a sat list, all you will have is a PVR and not a very good at that.
and no the tuner is not shipped from the factory with the jynx, the dealer will open the box and put the tuner in the box, if you think I am wrong call leesat and ask him.
