Ok hope someone can help me with my surround sound from my HT-E550 Samsung. One the back of my 9600 I have a s/pdif connection and on the back of my dvd has a digital connection. I have installed a cable from the 9600 using the s/pdif connection and the other to the digital on the back of the dvd (HT-E550) but I have no sound. I had a 9500 and the s/pdif was not supported and I was told the 9600 was, so what do I need to do to get sound from my surround system.................sure could use some input on this ...............thanks.......two-dogs

Surround sound does work. You have to make sure you set it up in the settings on the 9600. Also, not all channels have surround sound available.
Menu
TV output
TV Settings
Dolby Output >On

Some stereo receivers or home entertainment receivers will auto select the audio input, in some cases you can't use HDMI and S/PDIF at the same time, it's one or the other.
If it's working with HDMI then why change it?

I guess I confused you guys. What I meant to so say that with my Bois system it home it has hdmi but on my system in the trailer it is in the back of the dvd player and it does not have 2 hdmi imputs only one and it goes to the tv. My 9600 can't hook up to the dvd because of that reason. So I have to use the s/pdif connection to get it to work but no mater how I set it no sound. So if I connect a dish receiver with digital hook ups it worked. So I bought a cable that has s/pdif on one end digital on the other and was hoping to get it to work. So now did what I say make sense, and if so why doesn't it work............thanks two-dogs
