can I use an extra receiver to power a sw44 by wiring it into the power inserter connection. I don't have the inserter power supply.

If it is an FTA receiver, I don't believe it would be enough. A sub would work.

They don't make a DPP SW44, only a DP44 (old version) or a DPP44 (new version).
And the FTA receiver will not be able to power a DPP44, the DPP (or DP) 44 switch needs @20 volts DC at about 750 mA, if it is running all 4 LNB's, 450 mA if it only running 2 LNB's.
Look on Ebay the power inserters are around.
An old DP34 can be run by an old Dish 301 or 311 receiver, and some FTA receivers.

How about a bev 4100. back sticker says it says it will do 750mA
whoknows

straffer. It won't do any harm to give it a try. good luck

Well try it, but what is the DC voltage?????
DC current is one thing but if the voltage is not high enough then you could run in to some problems with switching.

I have run DP34s and DPP44s with only FTA receivers and no issues.. DPP44 has its own power adapter.. maybe some fta receivers voltage output is a bit low but i never had issues.. right now using DP34 with just 1 nano and working fine. with no switching issues.. 119, 110 and 118.7

I have a DPP44 with power adapter. Has some issues of getting no signal on JunkboxHD but no issues on SV8KHD.

i am running a dpp lnb without a switch and it works good why would you want a switch on adpp you dont need it i run with out one and mine works fine

We are not talking about DPP44, nor DP or DPP LNB's, but about running a SW44 switch with an FTA receiver, a totally different technology then DPP or DP.
I used the DPP44 as an example,(and maybe the wrong example) an FTA receiver would not be able to run any SW44 or DP44 switch, it doesn't have the DC voltage nor DC current to do so.
