Hello:

Well, thru most of the post's I have seen concerning an FTA HD.
Dreamlink HD seems to be the most popular.

Question is?
What is the difference between the V3 or V4 model?
What is the difference between the red and green board.

Wanting to get the best, and at the same time.
What should I get if needing OTA HD TV and have the best for SD/HD BEV and Dish.

Thanks for your time.

Hello:

Yes, I understand you need a dish.
I have been doing this since the bin days. I understand that.

When buying this receiver (anywhere), there are different versions, v2, v3, v4.
Just buy simple math, Version 4 (v4) seems to be the newest.

But the question is, what is the difference, since all of these versions are being sold. Which can be seen at Eb*y or any retailer.

There are also differences with the red and green cards, what is the difference between them. Or just color?

Thanks

As dishuser said, there is no versions of the DLHD. It is simply a marketing gimmick by the retailers. The reason why this whole versions thing started was because there would be delays in shipments from DL to the retailers, so retailers decided to say this is the new and improved DLHD Version whatever, but the actual receiver itself never changed.

As for the cards, there isn't really a difference though many prefer red over green. Idk if that's just what the ppl who are posting have red or what that is, but last I checked there was no difference

Here is what I have found from in outside source.

Green is made in Korea, and the Red is made in the USA.
Red is made from better material.
Same product better material. So there is a difference, but not much.

That is it.

Hey, How do I receive OTA with this unit?

I know dishuser, as you said, with an antenna.

I don't see any where to connect an antenna.
I don't see anyway to scan.
Thanks

The DL doesnt have an OTA tuner.. Use the OTA tuner on the TV.

I don't have a Tuner on my TV. I have a Projector.
That is why I asked this question originally.

That is why I was asking these questions before I bought this unit.
Hoping to get the correct questions answered.
Again, this is why getting answers, answered correctly save's problems.
The answer, antenna. Really.

Thanks for the bad news.
Now I'm screwed with a unit that isn't correct for my needs. And still have to spend more money buying something else.

007, I think u need to start reading more about ur stb, and educate urself. There is no difference between green or red module, if there is any difference, is of color and the dealer's way of selling or its in ur head, that u just don't understand. Next there is no v1 or v4 they all the same, but I will say that maker of DLHD may have upgrade DL overtime as the new shipment arrives dealer call it newer version, so just don't bother urself on this unanswerable question. Now there r other stb's out there, that can scan OTA channels like u scan ur sat, but DLHD will not give u this option. U can buy a regular OTA antenna and put it in ur attic and watch those channels on ur tv, for a projector set up u can use a VCR it has a tv tuner in it, u can plug the antenna cable to ur VCR and load OTA channels and be happy with it. Hope this help.

Look around for a digital to analog converter box for ATSC off air TV signals,(you might find a used one around on the web) it will convert the ATSC HDTV off air signal to a signal that your projector can use, (video, S-video, component video) you plug that box into the OTA antenna, then it supplies the signal to your projector.

An old VCR does not have an ATSC tuner in it, all TV signals (at least 98% of them) are now digital, the VCR would have to be a newer one with an ATSC tuner in it.

So the VCR wont work for OTA unless it has the digital TV tuner in it.

not much homework to see you need a tv for antenna

Hey, I totality understand my fault.
Yes I should of done more homework.

Listen, I have had many years into this hobby.
I can remember my first receiver was a FTA Ultra. Using bins.
I have had Captiveworks, Cnx Nano, Nfusion Nova and Nfusion HD.

Yes and Thank You. I understand that a VCR will not do the trick. NOT ATSC.
Hence why I wanted another receiver, Like the Nfusion HD, that had both. OTA and Sat.

I all ready have a ATSC convertor. But that convertor receives ATSC HD and degrades it to SD, like most tuners.
Like the Nfusion receives OTA HD and then displays the signal in HD.

Hey, Dishuser, I'm not bashing you, at least you did answer and took your time to do so.
But all you had to say is, does not work with OTA.

Over the years we have used these sites to educate our selves, I can not learn something new, without asking question's
about them first.

Your right, just by seeing that there was only STB and a Loop out should have clicked, it didn't. I was excited about getting a new toy and that didn't click. Then when I opened the box and was getting ready to hook it up. Then it clicked. That is why I asked before hand.

Anyways.

Thanks for everybody's input.
I have learned.

So now that everybody knows what I do need. LOL.
An STB that is still great for the FTA world and has Built-in OTA ATSC.

Thanks again.

James Bond 007sorry
when it comes to ota I always think tv
been using tv's with built in tuners for over 7 years
even my first lcd projection had it

JamesBond007
02-06-2013, 01:26 AM
Yes, I agree.

When I moved up to projection, that is no longer included.

Just like my first and last boat, Break Out Another Thousand.
All ways something else to buy.

And when you have a 106 inch screen with a projector that can produce 1080p. SD does not do the trick.

Thanks for your time.

But any help on a New HD Receiver would be greatly appreciated.
I guess the Kids just got them selves, My new toy.
