what receiver does sky on 58w use?
A friend has an x2 premium hd and if he isn't careful it will take an ota firmware update from that sat and be dead after that.He has to recover via rs232.
I am not in the 58w viewing area so I can't play with my x2 on it myself.
It must be a receiver with the same processor but different hardware.

Most any FTA receiver with a linear LNB and a 39" dish should work to receive 58W, but you have to be within it's footprint, or be able to see the satellite above the horizon to do so. (also have to be able to decode the "Videoguard" encryption used for the "Sky Mexico" system)
For the footprint on 58W take a look at the link below, look at the "M2DL" and "MHDL" Ku band footprints, zoom into your location to see if you can get this satellite.

Any old mpeg2 receiver with eth /dong/sssp can do that...none of SkyMex P$ do include HD as NDS cards are still unbeatable

The legit receiver must be nt78326 based, because the x2 takes the ota firmware update but is dead after that except for the fact that he can recover via usb(not rs232 as previously mentioned).
I realize there are numerous receivers that will work on 58w but I was trying to get details on the legit receiver sky uses.He says the x2 has a firmware updating message in spanish then is dead after that.
Sky mex website lists 2 receivers but no details on them.
