Hey all..gonna lean on you guys for a change..lol

My NFHD was running 25r, and was running along nicely, when it started having the audio drop off. This happens on both HD and SD channels, PPV and sub channels too.

I have:
Changed hdmi cable, used brand new cable.
Tried different input on tv.
Unplugged (powercycle)
Opened the NFHD, and I see no bulging caps..I am very experienced with electronic boards, and have created my own boards for different uses.
Heat is not an issue..I have 2 laptop fans, one on top, other on the bottom, and the box doesn't even get warm, let alone hot.
Re-started NOI 1.31a
Redownloaded, and setup NOI 1.31a
Running Win XP on laptop. Hard wired (now) direct to switch, which is direct to router. I can see the NFHD by going into that router ( I have 3 routers and 2 switches in my network).
I can also assess the NFHD by going to it's ip address.
I am on BB50(50 Mbps, and my speed according to 2 different tests is in the 49.48-49.69 range) plenty fast enough for this.
The laptop is only used for the NOI, and nothing else. It sits folded up in the tv stand, next to the switch, and the NFHD.
I have restarted the laptop, and restarted NOI 1.31a.
I have tried a different cable for inet connection.

I have checked my sat signal. 99% on 119, and 99 % on 110. Quality is also at 99% for both.

I have factory defaulted the NFHD.
I have loaded the 27 file onto the NFHD. I know it is for dish only, and that is fine, as I don't use Bell.
Not a server issue, as others at the p$ do not have the issue.

What am I missing?

i can say one...one time this has happened using the r27 file.
a simple reboot fixed it and it has never happened again.
i have had the remote become unresponsive...odd.
a simple reboot fixed that.
maybe others have seen this before but i feel lucky to have it happen only once.

Did someone turn down the volume on your TV, you have to remember you have to ways to control volume, unless you are also connected to a SS system, then you have 3 way's, just so you know, incoming signal from dish has nothing to do with volume, the NOI program has nothing to do with volume, your comp. has nothing to do with volume. If you have experience with electronics, then you should know, your TV and receiver all have audio amps in them, the way I would troubleshoot this problem, would be to turn up the TV, connected with an OTA antenna, and see if the sound starts to drop off, if it does then the audio amp,is going in your tv, if it doesn't then reconnect your sat rec. and do the same. this will tell you what amp is going.

I have this kind of problem with HD, after switching channels, no audio or sometimes even frozen. I have to power off using the back switch and then re-power again. Most of the time, the audio came back but yours seems to be different. I think there are some components that controls the audio system are haywire. Require some electronic experts on this to troubleshoot.

The volume is fine.

The audio drops off. I am watching a show or movie, and the audio drops off completely

The video is ok, and we are not losing inet at all.

The audio stutters for about a second. Then it drops off. A second later it comes back on.

The TV does not drop audio on my HDPVR for cable, Bluray player, WII, or laptop.

Does anyone have a schematic of the audio..what to look for or test. I do have a voltage meter, and know how to use it.
A schematic of the whole board would be awesome. If it is the amp, I wonder if I could jury ridge a different audio amp to make it work.

let me add...
i have seen gen 1 NFHD have issues with HDMI crackle and lose audio...just out of the blue...no rhyme or reason.
hard boot fix but it was near daily problem.
install composite?component? (5 cables) and fixed the issue.

Sounds like an HDMI audio problem caused by a software glitch, (coders get to work) try the optical output and run it to your stereo receiver, see what that does.

So, I tried to run the NFHD using RCAs, and I am still getting the audio drop off. About once every 2 minutes, which is making watching anything impossible.

So it appears to be the NFHD, not just the HDMI port.
