Without going into a long explanation I would suggest you check your PSU. Many people replace the caps with a Higher Voltage cap and the caps burn out even though visually they seem fine. Being able to see the light on the main board says that the PSU is partially functional.
I would also check for cold solders on any components you changed.

It sounds like your PSU overheated. To spare you a long list of trial and errors, get yourself a new PSU.
