Here are a few pics of my latest creation. D500 pan and skew plate attached to an sg2100 motor. Extended the lnb arm out and added some spacers with a cut out in between the skew plate to give the motor arm more clearance. Also used a longer bolt to attach the skew plate together. Kinda a work in progress. My plan is to replace the wood with some hard plastic. May even widen the end of the lnb arm to accommodate more than one lnb.

Nice job Snap.

Those cheap plastic cutting boards you find almost everywhere are a good source for projects requiring a plastic piece.

Isn't a D500 pan a bit small? Whats it for?

Yep you pretty much got my plan with the cutting board. lol Already have one that I can cut a disk out of for the spacer. I've seen some at wally world that should work length wise for the lnb arm.

Right now I've got standard dtv lnb on this puppy. Pegged out at 95q and 95s with my premium. Which is about normal with this stb. I've seen it jump to 99% but it is short lived. You know some of the signal meters on these units can be a bit fickle. lol My poor old 2700A would read about 35% on either the q or s can't remember which all the time. Even without the dish connected. lol I've got a linear lnb that fits a square tube I'm gona switch out when I get a chance and see how good it works with the fta birds. If it works out like I hope it will I'll widen the end of the lnb arm out and see how the two pick up a signal side by side.

Nice little project man.

Watch the plastic for the arm. I have used a lot of it in jigs and fixtures and it has a tendency to sag with time.

Here are a few pics of my latest creation. Dish500 mod with linear and circular side by side. I replaced the wood discs with a disc cut from a cutting board as a spacer to give the motor arm clearance. Still haven't mounted this one yet. Been playing around with my dish300 (18" dish) still. May still have to swap the lnbs around. Circular is center right now. Sorry about the pic quality. Lighting not to grand and I have a hard time holding a camera still. Even with the anti shake on. I'll post some better pics when I get it mounted. My very mini bud. lol Work in progress. Have to break out my kbox with this setup. Kbox has a fantastic blind scan.

A few more to go with my above post.

abouttosnap, you love your small motor systems! lol.18657 Here is my pick, 18" I actually used two metal plates to make the space between the pan and the motor, because in the past they will rub, especially using a HH90 motor.

If you all want a bit more gain on the dish, without going too big then use a D1000 pan, and the mount from a D500 dish (with your mods to the mount) they (with a tad bit of coaxing) will fit nice together, I have done it.

And I still say that the 18" 500 dish will be a bit too small for some of the linear birds, as they are 1/2 to 1/3 the output power of the Dish and BEV birds, some are even 1/4 the output.

The satbeams footprint maps would tell.

Got a D1000 new in the box that I'm saving for hard times or if my old lnbs finally fry. Plus if I put my D1000 up it will get dirty and wet. :D

Reminds of my neighbor a while back. They got dtv and the installer put em up an 18" dish. The thing was so close to the ground that a dog could come along and cock up on it. lol
