Hi guys, I see more people inquiring about the dn dishes for 110/119/129. I know these are more readily available and cheaper in the US. I am in Toronto, I have always used dish 500's for setup, but now thinking of using a 1000.2 or 1000.4 dish, they are not cheap but seem great. I like things clean, so I don't like three dishes on my house. I currently have 36" motorized dish, but don't watch anything international so I feel this is a waste, so I am thinking these dishes are more suitable. right now I have two receivers in the house a Dreamlink HD and Nanosat Se, may add a third. what do you guys thinks of these dishes for FTA, are they worth the money?, is set up difficult?, and would I require a Power inserter? I think if I need a power inserter, i may pass on the idea as then the setup gets more expensive. the dish I see is about $100 plus in Canada. thoughts?

Get the 1000.2 as it receives 110W, 119W and 129W, and with those receivers you will need the DC power inserter that is used with the DPP44 switch.(but you don't need the switch)

The 1000.4 is for 61.5W, 72.7W and 77W.

Port #1 on the Dish 1000.2 LNB, will be used for just the DC power, port 2 and 3 on the LNB will then run your receivers just fine, port # 4 is an input port for another DP type LNB, normally used for 118W.

And this is not an FTA dish, it is for Dish nutworks satellites, they are not FTA satellites.

The motorized one with a linear LNB can be used for FTA satellites like 97W.

So you like this idea of the dish 1000.2? and where can I get just the power inserter?

Well the dish 1000 is a bear to align to 129W, most of the 3 headed LNB dishes are.

I almost live right under 129W, but due to its erratic foot print for my area I have to use a split system for some of my customers.

What I do is to use a Dish 500 set for 110/119 with the new DPP twin LNB on it, the use a larger 30" dish for 129W, this dish has a DP single LNB on it and is run to the DP twins LNB input.

On older installs using 2 DP dual LNB's for 110/119, I use a DPP 44 switch to combine both dishes, this provides the needed DC current to run all 3 LNB's.

You can do a Google for just the DPP 44 power inserter, or look on fleBay.

What I use here is the Dish 500 mast mount and Twin LNB on a Dish 1000 pan, and then a 33" dish for 129 with a DP single LNB, this gives me about 3 dB more gain for 110/119 and about 6 dB more for 129.
