I currently don't have an HD TV but wee will be getting one by November or December. What I would like to do is get the HD antenna now and put it up while we still have warm weather. I live in SouthWest Idaho. I'm thinking I need the Dish 1000.2 to get 110, 119 and 129 sats. Here's the thing. Can I use any parts off of my Dish 500 antenna I need now to use with the new antenna? Or is everything different. Reason I ask is, I currently have a 90+ quality signal but it seemed like months of tinkering with it before I got that. As a senior I hate getting up on the rough anymore then necessary and I noticed on fleabay, they sell complete AND parts of the dish. Like you can get the reflector dish only or just the mast e.t.c. The one I have been looking at today is at hxxp://www.ebay.com/itm/Dish-Network-1000-2-TURBO-HD-FULL-Satellite-KIT-Antenna-110-119-129-Western-West-/180720873887?pt=US_Antennas_Dishes&hash=item2a13cdb19f#ht_3971wt_1033
Otherwise I am stuck I suppose with the Dish 500 I have.
Hoping to get some good answer on this. :)

That dish will work but the internal switch is a power hog and you will most likely need a DPP 44 power inserter to power it. You didn't mention what receiver you have and different receivers supply different Mili amps to the switch. It takes at least 700 ma to power that switch. If you have a newer dish 500 it should have a DPP twin lnb on it with 2 outputs and 1 lnb input to add the 129 sat but that set up is also a power hog 157431574415745 but will fit any DN eliptical dish so you would only need to buy the dish and 1 DP dual lnb.

Hi Bluesman and thank you for the response. Currently I just have a SV360E and an nFusion Solaris. I did want to read up on which one is not a power hog.

That's it, that's the one I have looks like the one on the far left in the picture. I'm not opposed to getting a new LNB and some of those dishes did come I believe with a triple LNB

By a power inserter did you mean something like this coming FROM my disc switch I have in line now?

I have a regular Dish500 set up just for 110 and 119 running a FTA on it. Does this need more power?
I am having freezing and some channels not working.
Could this be a power issue?

Ok, I now have a 1000.2 DP44 AND a power inserter. Everyting seems ok but I do have a question. When running a line off of the DP44 into the house and connecting to an outlet, there is a socket on the power inserter to connect to a receiver. My question, is, do I need to do that. Oh I have the LS HD Air V2 with the LS400 installed.

I would have just installed a 1000.4 dish myself. To answer your question about connecting the power inserter to a receiver, no you don't have to. The power inserter connects to output 1 of your dpp44 switch. Your receivers connect to any of the other outputs.

Thanks buddy4406. Well the reason I got the 1000.2 is because I understood living in Idaho, that is the one I needed :(

Started reading this hoping to help.. Get here, and I 'm asking you a question! I too have a 1000.2,and I think a 44 power inserter,,well,I do. My ? is,,it is a black box, placed behind the tv,sat cable into it,out to the Sat receiver. Are you running a switch also, associated with the 44. DO I have to do that? Sorry to sort of hijack,,but I have 2 threads going getting nowhere! The switch is built in out at the dish,,also, anyone know how to measure out at the dish,on the coax to verify my 44 is doing it's job? I have 95% Q and S, on 110,and 119,and only a handfull of channels,,everything else being correct as far as I know.Thanx!
