My house is from 1940 and it's not perfect due to some settling. I installed a nice new ceiling fan above the dining table and every time I used it it would make a ticking sound because of the mount wouldn't fit nice an snug so here is what I did to fix it .
I got a Ceiling Medallion from home depot and used some hot glue to keep it in place then after mounting the fan back up I ran some of the hot glue around between the mount and the ceiling. all it does is act like shock absorber for the fan mount. also it acted like the blades were out of balance when running, it runs nice now . no more balance issue and more ticking . oh P.S the hot glue does not hold the fan up since I used most of it to hold the wheels on the jeep . lol:tehe:
