View Full Version : Can I cascade Zinwell 3x4 switches and use the outputs with SW21s?

Hey guys here is the current setup. We have 3 dishes each has a dual LNB.

One dish is on 110, one on 119 and one on 129. Unfortunately because of the size of the dishes yes we need all 3.

Now the problem is that my friend has 2 dual tuners DVR 625 receivers and a Viewsat 9000 HD as well.

Right now he's using a Zinwell 3x4 switch, that one gets signal from 110 and feeds both Dual Tuner receivers. It only has 4 outputs. So my question is this. Could we add another Zinwell 3x4 to get 6 outputs instead of just 4.

The Viewsat 9000 HD is using a SW21 to get 119 and 129. However if we could cascade the Zinwell switches we would be able to get 2 extra outputs and we would have an extra line on 110 to add to the Viewsat 9000 HD. Then hopefully if it works I could use a DiSEqC 4x1 for the Viewsat to get 110 from the Zinwell and the other 2, 119 and 129 straight from the LNBs.

And of course if cascading the Zinwell works fine, we might be able to just use Zinwell's on all 3 sats to get enough outputs to feed the 2 dual tuners and the Viewsat receiver.

So the setup for the dual tuners would be like so.

From Zinwell Switch take 110 out and from Zinwell Switch take 119 out and conbine the signal with a SW21 and that would go for Tuner 1 on 1 receiver and then the same for Tuner 2 on the same receiver and then the same setup from the other outputs for the other dual tuner receiver.

Has anyone tried this before? Would this work? Does Cascading work on this Switches and can they be used with SW21s and DiSEqC 4x1 switches?

This is what I want to do but here they are using 2 different switches and the one I have and the one I can get cheap is the bottom one. 3x4, it's meant to send the signal from 1 LNB to 4 receivers.

Too much stuff in the system, every thing you add to the system will add signal loss.

And you can't cascade those switches like that.

Get a DP44 switch, it is an active switch (has its own power supply) and can be cascaded,(it has outputs that are used for that) you can use up to 3 switches in the system, this will allow up to 12 receivers to be used off 2 LNB's.

And it's not a good idea to go with cheap, not in the satellite signal path.

You can also go with an EMP switch, you can get one switch that will run 32 receivers,(or more) but your going to pay a bit more.

Yes, you can cascade two 3x4 Zinwells to get 6 outputs.....another more costly alternative is the Zinwell WB68...which allows you to send 2 sats to 8 receivers ( the flex ports are not usable for dish ).....or a 3x8 switch

Sorry, but the SAM3402 switch can't be used like that, it is a signal LNB legacy switch, (I can't see the other model number on the other switch) the SAM3402 switch will only run a single legacy LNB with a +13 volt (vertical transponders) and a +18 volt (horizontal transponders) output, it will not take an input from that other switches output like in the drawing.

Your also going to have twice the signal loss on those 4 satellites attached to the second switch, so it is best to go with one switch that will do it all, a 6x8 switch will do what you want, with out all the extra signal loss.

The drawing you showing is from "Galaxy Marketing" it won't work.(It was drawn up by a salesman)

The WB68 won't work either, the 5th and 6th inputs are designed for single polarity LNB's (I think they're both vertical), and requires some proprietary commands from a DTV receiver to make use of those ports.

We'll I will try to cascade then. I'll report back on sunday

Yup your right Satchick,(my bad) that's why I like the DPP44. (and don't deal with DTV stuff)

But here is another option.

I got the switches and the cascading worked fine to get 6 lines from 110 & 119. Signal loss was minimal. Maybe 1 point in Q. Then I used a 4x1 diseqc switch to get 110 & 119 from the switches and 129 direct from the lnb. Both Duo Tuners receivers recognized the setup as sw21 and the Viewsat 9000 was configured with diseqc setup
