I’m about to paint the living room and I had a ideal. The main color will be a light grayish , trim will be white. Now what if I painted the ceiling white , would that make the ceiling look higher or is that a stay away ? it’s a very light room but not a big room and I’m looking for inspiration.
Thanks

if you paint the ceiling white and find that it doesnt make the room appear larger try putting up some crown moulding it will give the affect of a vaulted ceiling.

Will make what look taller? Are we talking about the bedroom here?

a rule that i always used is the brightest on the ceiling medium on the walls and darkest on the floor , for a brighter larger looking room

Look at my name.Take my advice, any darker colors will make a room smaller or on a ceiling especially an 8 foot ceiling. So if your room is small or does not have high ceiling just paint it white. That is my best advice 41 years experience.

odly enough from my 20 years experience the darker greens like "olive branch" dont make the room look smaller. but like i said a crown moulding will work well too good luck! /end hijack

I got a new toy to help with the painting , picked up a graco 2900 HVLP sprayer for $39.00 on ebay , they sell at lowes for about $120.00 or so. it's factory reconditioned so it is used but it's very clean and came with everything less the how to dvd that can be had on youtube. I'll post back how it works out.

you want to mke the room look larger use a dark complimentary color on one wall and white on a ceiling. SInce main color is a light gray which is basically neutral you could pretty much use any color. I have my living room painted white ceiling, very pale green on 3 walls and wall wth no windows a dark forest green
