Hey all,
I have a Dish 500 and a old DTV 18" hughes dish. I currently have a Nanosat Premium, CNX Nano 2. I also have 2 4x1 diseqc switches (a Chieta and one that came with a Viewsat Platinum about 4 years ago). If I wanted to connect just the Nano 2 and Nanosat Premium to all 3 sats, what should I buy and what would be the best way to set it up?
I have a choice to buy the following sets of LNBS:
3 Legacy Dual LNBs
1 Legacy Twin LNB + 1 Legacy Dual LNB
1 DP Twin LNB + 1 Legacy Dual LNB
1 DP PLUS Twin LNB + 1 Legacy Dual LNB
I am planning to place a Twin or 2 dual lnbs on the Dish 500 (119/110) and a dual lnb on the DTV dish (129). I dont have a DPP44 or DPP34 or a power inserter.
Suggestions?

Couple things wrong with your logic
You cannot mix Legacy and DP or DPP LNBs They don't play nice together.
You cannot put a Legacy LNB on the hughes dish. The mounting base for the Legacy LNB (and I believe the DP and DPP LNBs) is D shaped while the mount on the hughes dish is rectangular.
The lowest cost solution would be to mount 2 Legacy dual LNBs on the D500 and mount a Standard dual LNB on the hughes dish. Finding a Legacy Twin might be hard as they haven't been produced for a while.
Another suggestion would be to get rid of the VS diseqc switch and replace it with another Chieta heavy duty or a EMP switch. The ones that were shipped with receivers were very problematic.
Make sure you GROUND your switches to avoid conflict between the 2 STBs.

Suggestions?I'd go with the 500 , 3 lnb legacy lnbs and a 3 lnbf bracket . This setup will work ( assuming the dish is large enough for your location) - with your 2 diseqc switches/2 receivers.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the suggestions. For ottid142, I believe I may have mistyped the type of LNB that I was referring to. The Dish LNB I named as legacy dual has 2 outputs and the word digital on the front part of it (where the model information is listed as well). I may have told you legacy LNB, but it may not be, I just forgot whether the lnb has the DP logo or the original DN logo. But I do know it has the words digital LNBF there. IS that a legacy or DP LNB?
For StanW:
I have to run about 6 wires to the cable hub in order to make this work. I also already have a ground cable set up there at the cable hub. From the dish to the hub is about 50ft of cable. My question to you is:
Is it better to set up a new ground and both chietas as close to the dish as possible? That way I can just run 6 short cables to the switches and then run 2 long ones from the switches to the hub that then go to the recvrs? I have attached a diagram to help visualize this.

Thanks again,

Thanks again,
Check here to Identify what kind of DN LNB you have http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?2555-Dish-Network-LNB-Identification. If there are no markings present it could still be an after market Legacy LNB. It really doesnt matter because most STB treat Legacy and Standard LNB the same way. The important thing is not to mix DP and DPP with Legacy or Standard.
The closer you have your switches to the dish the better but they have to be out of the weather or in a weatherproof container. they should also be easily accessibile for future maintenance.

Here are the 2 lnbs I have:

I think they are legacy LNBs. I'm having a tough time getting the one without the small screws to work. Is there a difference between the one with the small screws near the outputs and the one without screws? Does one have the +13 +18 volt thing going on?

They both appear to be Legacy. I think the one with the small screws may be the older of the pair. Both will have the 13/18 volt thing going on. For under $20 ea you might consider replacing both of them with new units and keeping the one that you have no problems with as a spare.
