Here is an active foot print map for 72.7 (Nimiq 5) find your location on the map and zoom in, then click on your location with your mouse, this will give you an estimated dish size for your location.

You also should know the 72.7's transponders are all 8PSK, MPEG-4, (if you don't know already) so you will need an HD receiver with the add on 8PSK/MPEG-4 card to get anything.

Try the site I mentioned in my first post, it will help out with some of the guess work...

I`m on the East coast and use 72.7 for most of my viewing for HD.I use a 24" dish for myself but have use 18"and get a good signal. You will need a receiver capable of getting Mpeg4 as SD and HD are all in Mpeg4 on this bird. Also the bird will come in as Sat 72.0 AMC6.

i can get 82 in no problem at all, and 72.7 should be almost around 82, couple of degrees up and a bit to the left, i can get the signal up to 74, but no quality on any transponder.. I am going to try a 39 inch dish this week.. That should definatly get it.. Thanks for the footprint, i was using satfinder, and it helped out as well, gave me the elevation and azimyth ans stuff..

I am in new brunswick canada and I have 82.0, 72.7 and 61.5 all set up on one 24" eliptical dish with no problem
I use a signal meter for setting up dish ,I do not trust any stbs for setting up the signals,I find that they do not give true signal
I am using both limesat hd air and dreamlink HD stbs with these sats and have no signal problems.
