across the river

a man has a small boat and he has to get
a chicken
a dog
corn feed
across the river. he can only carry one item at a time.
the dog will eat the chicken if left unattended while he crosses.
the chicken will eat the corn feed if they are left unattended.
how does he get all three items across safely?

Take the chicken across, come back and get the dog and take the dog across, then bring back the chicken again and leave but take the corn across, then go get your chicken again. :)
